Works great. Bought it as a replacement for the old one. Was exactly the same just cheaper in price than the one from Home you know where. lol. Works great. Controls the air conditioning and heat and you can get technical if you want to and set timers and all that but I just use it to turn on a/c and heat. Would recommend.

Looks pretty and nice display. Taking off a star because there are barely any instructions included and the menus are not easy to figure out. I’m very good with this kind of thing and it’s just not logical to navigate - there’s nothing that even says on and off. But it’s controlling my heat and doing its job. Happy once I did the programming I won’t have to change anything for awhile. Note it’s also horizontal when most are vertical. I had to patch up my wall after making that change.

Honeywell knows their stuff when it comes to thermostats. My apartment needed an upgrade from the ancient version it had, but I didn’t want to put a whole lot of money into a place that wasn’t mine- so I landed on this one. It worked, was easy to navigate and got the job done better than the old thermostat before it.

Now a year old, has its moments of odd time/on off, but better than the basic no timers..

DON'T BUY IT!!! It worked, kind of, for a very short time, then the screen started going dark, little by little.I called the number in the manual since it was 7 months since purchase. The representative was among the worst I have ever experienced. Impertinent, talked over me so I could not explain, and was very difficult to understand because she has an accent and refused to slow down. (I myself have an accent, so no, I hold no grudge against people with accents.)Then she told me that I would need to take four different photos of the thermostat, including one attached to a "boltage" meter. I don't know about you, but I don't have one and I don't know anyone who does. It's not a screwdriver, for goodness sake.That effectively meant they had no intention of accepting the return for a replacement. She started going on, reading a URL out loud, at the speed of reciting the alphabet. Truly making no effort to be helpful.The thermostat is very basic. It cools and heats one degree above or below what you set it to, which I have never encountered before. The installation was fairly easy, but who cares when the screen is almost black??? SHAMEFUL customer service. Don't buy unless you don't care if the warranty is worthless. Never again.

Very easy to follow installation instructions. Programing is easy as well. Nice look. Great product for the price.

The item works just fine however I purchased for a predominantly AC Texas environment... Please beware be advised the default heat program is 99° for every time every day so don't forget to switch over to heat and program both settings.I wound up with an average of like 78 cool for away down to almost 72 for home or return and heat around 62 to 68 up to 75...Don't forget to program the heat because it defaults to 99 and if you forget about that it will run and run and run by default!

It works ok but doesn’t have some features that I like which I knew most of them at purchase. The one that got me was when you adjust the temperature as a temporary setting it doesn’t automatically go back to the programmed setting

The accuracy seems to be off in comparison to my previous non-programmable.The cycles are less frequent and that causes a greater fluctuation in temperature from where you set your thermostat, but it does work just not efficiently. It seems and it was recently priced so I can live with the greater fluctuations. Haven’t seen any savings in using it, if anything my bill has actually been $20 a month higher, but I’ve not programmed in my changes yet so I’m manually setting as I did the old one.After I program it I’ll re-review.

Unobtrusive appearance, programmable, and easy to install. The enclosed instructions cover every type of AC/Heat unit with clear easy to follow instructions for the electrical connections. You can program different temperatures for different times/days, or you can set it to always maintain one temperature by pressing the "HOLD" button for a few seconds after selecting the desired temperature. It does everything I want, and it was half the price of the least expensive unit at my local Home Depot.

This is a very basic no thrills thermostat for a great price from a reputable company.My old one just stopped working mid winter and I found this with fast shipping. Whats great is it’s the exact same bracket as my previous model which is just like this but without the light up screen. Even the directions show the old model. With that one I always was using my phone flashlight so this is a nice upgrade. They’re otherwise almost identical.Yes, the screen has the weird marks on it but it doesn’t bother me. I’m just happy to be able to see it in the dark.The schedule is a cool feature. I don’t know if there’s an option to use less times for it though. Might be nice.Would I love mobile features. Yes. But at this price I wouldn’t expect it and at least I was able to avoid any drilling. Was able to install in 30 seconds because of it.

This review is for the Honeywell RTH2300B1038 5-2 Day programmable thermostat. It works OK (meaning that it turns my furnace on and off), but it has several drawback that don’t match its higher price point over less expensive thermostats that have greater functionality.Installation was not quite as straight forward as I expected, I had to cross reference some youtube videos to make sure I was correctly leaving the blue thermostat control wire disconnected. A few extra details in the instructions would be helpful here. The first thing I noticed when it was connected and powered up is that it had the same dark/dirty area in the lower right corner of the green backlight that everyone else has pointed out. Definitely some quality control issues during manufacturing here. There’s a confidence booster… This isn’t really a big deal, because I don’t need to use the backlight.The next think I noticed was the deal breaker for me: though there is a five-day and a two-day program, there is only a single group of settings that will apply to BOTH the heating and cooling cycles. During the winter, we keep our furnace set a bit lower, usually around 67 degrees. During the summer, we keep the air conditioning set higher, around 75 degrees. You cannot achieve these setting with this thermostat - you only get one set of settings. This means you have to reprogram the thermostat every time the season changes. Call me lazy, but this introduces hassle that wasn’t present with my previous thermostat. This means I would need to write down the settings in some place that I’ll be able to find six months later. No thanks.The next thing that I noticed is that this Honeywell thermostat causes my furnace to cycle much more frequently than the old thermostat did. This results in more wear and tear on your furnace and air conditioning compressors. There might be a place to adjust this behavior, broadening the temp spread for the turn-on and turn-off points, but given that it only has a single set of time/temp settings, I had already made up my mind to return it, so I didn’t bother looking through the manual to see if this is possible or not.If you find yourself in need of a new thermostat, save a few dollars and pick up a Lux Pro PSP511C thermostat that is much better. It has separate time/temp setting for heating and for cooling and you can easily adjust the on/off temp spread so your equipment cycles less often. This saves wear and tear and is also more energy efficient.

One year later, I knocked a star off. I *hate* the one degree swing. My radiators barely get warm and it turns off. Because the radiators barely get warm during the short time it's on, the house just doesn't feel as warm. And it comes on more often. To try to counteract that, I've turned the radiator in the thermostat room nearly off, but it's still picking up the heat from the adjoining room. I feel like I have to rebalance my entire house, which had worked well through multiple thermostats for 30 years before this one.I have a steam boiler with cast iron radiators. YMMV with a different system.*****I'd give this 4.5 stars for a simple 2 wire milivolt system. Like others, I had to call tech support to confirm the wire coloring. Putting labels on the current wires means nothing if your wiring and your old thermostat are not identical to the new one. Don't bother messaging them through facebook as it's been weeks and they haven't responded, but they did answer the phone quickly. Once I remember the wire colors I'll update the thread as others here were also wrong.I also have the discolored area in the lower right corner but it hasn't changed since install.Pluses: it works well once you get the wires correct. Heat turns on and off when I ask it to and it's pretty simple to override the set program.Cons: Don't even open the manual for wiring infoBacklight only works if you hit a button, which happens to be the same button you'd use to override the temp. So don't hit it too hard or you may turn your heat on.It's an extremely basic unit. I do miss the feature my old one had where I could see how long the heat was on each day, but not enough to pay twice the price.

Bought this to replace my super basic apt thermostat because I was tired of constantly adjusting the temperature based on the time of day. I like to keep it low at night but crank it up a bit during the day to help save some money, but still keep it reasonable for my pup.Even though this is another fairly basic thermostat, I have found the features to be great so far. Was actually surprisingly easy to install and that you can change the temp based on 4 different times of the week day and the weekend separately.Just make sure to be careful and take pictures and or mark the wires on the old thermostat to make sure you wire it correctly. Yes, most wires will correspond to the correct label but you never know for sure. Alot of cheap a$$ landlords out there. Speaking of which, I called them to have the maintenance come out and install it for me since they said it was something they would do when signing the lease and even the day of but then maintenance calls back and says oh we dont do that because if something goes wrong you would be liable and we can't fix the A/C. I was like wtf that doesn't even make sense and just said fine I'll do it myself.Never installed one of these before and only okay at handy work but found this to be a simple and very awesome upgrade so far. Make sure to cut the power! Also, be careful and don't bend the wires back and forth, they will heat up and break off. Be gentle with the wires and take your time. Don't screw them down until you have everything inserted and leave some slack in the line so it doesn't go back into the wall where you can't get to it.Don't mount to the wall until you check to make sure it works. If you have someone else I would recommend having them hold the unit up while you turn on the power to the A/C or very gently hanging it off the wires(just know it could fall off) and then when your sure that everything works you could mount it. Look up a video on YouTube or read the instructions if your not sure. It's really simple and easy to install. Highly recommend this so far and will update again to make sure the temps and settings hold correctly. :)
